Castles, historical sites, and breweries (41,3 km)
The tour starts at Alma's House in Ørbæk. This old, yellow farmhouse has a unique history and its roots can be traced back to the 17th century. Alma's House is currently being developed as a hub for cycling tours and experiences in Ørbæk.
Almas House and Ørbæk Brewery
From Alma's House, ride northwest towards Ørbæk Brewery. The brewery is organic and known for – among others - its Fynsk Forår beer. You can purchase their many craft beers directly from the brewery.
Lindeskov and Magelund Ramparts
West of Ørbæk, there are several interesting stops. The historical sites at Lindeskov include Denmark's longest preserved dolmens, measuring an impressive 168 meters. On the opposite side of the main road is Magelund Ramparts. The ramparts is one of Denmark's largest and most strongly fortified medieval fortifications.
Lykkesholm Castle
Lykkesholm Castle succeeded Magelund Ramparts as the area's fortress and was, among other things, a favorite residence for the famous writer H.C. Andersen.
Ellested Church
The tour continues to Ellested church - one of the oldest churches in the area, dating back to the early 12th century. Prior to Christianity, the site may have served as a place of pagan worship.
Ravnholt Dyrehave
Here is the first convenient spot to shorten the route by cycling directly towards Herrested. However, if you do this, you'll miss out on the beautiful drive through the long avenues of chestnut trees that frame a lovely journey through Ravnholt Dyrehave, near the manor of Ravnholt.
Nature and Culture Centre
Continuing your journey, you'll pass Herrested Church before reaching the northern outskirts of Refsvindinge at the Nature and Culture Centre. A significant conservation project for the protected common toad is underway in this entire area. In recent years, many habitats have been created for the toad, and the area also has shelters. Refsvindinge is the next spot on the route where you can naturally shorten your journey.
Juulskov Manor and the 2 Mills
In the northernmost part of the trip, you'll pass Juulskov Manor before traversing the idyllic Ørbæk Valley with its watermills. Your first stop is Sulkendrup Mill. Here, you'll find a recently restored dolmen, and the site is ideal for a break. Continuing through the valley, you'll reach the area's second functioning watermill - Lillemølle. Both mills are beautifully reflected in their mill ponds.
Refsvindinge Brewery
You can now make a short stop at Refsvindinge Brewery. The brewery is famous for its Ale No. 16, which has been voted Denmark's best beer several times. The site also houses Denmark's only micro-maltery, creating a sweet and unique aroma in the area. You can purchase a wide variety of beers directly from the brewery. From one of Denmark's smallest - but best - breweries, the journey continues towards Frørup. You once again have an opportunity to shorten the route. However, we recommend that you take the final stretch.
Frørup
In Frørup, you'll discover a quintessential Danish village featuring Frørup Church, half-timbered homes, and the historic town square. In the Middle Ages, believers and the sick made pilgrimages to the nearby Regisse Spring in search of healing. You'll also find Frørup Vineyard here. Whether the water brings healing through the wine, however, remains to be seen.
Ørbæklunde Manor
Returning to Ørbæk, you'll pass the historic Ørbæklunde Manor, dating back to the 16th century, as well as Ørbæk Church, famous for its unique chalk paintings.
