Discover the remnants of an ice age landscape, stunning natural beauty, and two unique railway lines. 

Begin your adventure at Nyborg Marina, where you can enjoy a fantastic playground and views of the harbor. Your route continues past Dyrehavemølle and through a former royal deer park shaped by the ice age.

Several shipyards have existed in Nyborg over time and until 1960 ships were still being built in Nyborg. However, none of the shipyards exist today. The last ship sailed from Nyborg Shipyard.

Dyrehaven (which literally translates into ‘the Animal Park’) is probably the country's oldest royal Dyrehave in a more modern sense.

The railway was established as a private railway owned by Svendborg-Nyborg Jernbaneselskab, but unlike other private railways this railway had large local stations in Nyborg and Svendborg.

If you take a walk up the stairs at this stop you will be able to experience a lovely view of the surrounding nature bordering the old railway and the Holckenhavn Fjord.

6. stop: The Red Clover Path - The Industrial Railway

The industrial railway leads from the main railway (Copenhagen - Odense - Jutland) via a track over the old harbor areas to the industrial area at Avernakke.

Practical Information

The tour starts at Vesterhavnen 3a, 5800 Nyborg and is signposted in a clockwise direction. You can get a physical brochure at VisitNyborg (Torvet 2b, 5800 Nyborg) or at the starting point of the tour. If you prefer an online map, you can find it here. The map will guide you around the tour and show you the exact location of the 6 aforementioned stops.

Note: The trail from point 2 for the next 500 meters is quite hilly and passes through a wooded area. You may need to push your bike on this section. Alternatively, you can continue along Dyrehavevej from point 2 and then follow Gammel Vindingevej to reach point 3. From point 3, the trail is a 2 km gravel path that follows the old railway line.
